WfE welcomes detailed business plans for any of the focus areas. All business cases and business plans will be assessed against predetermined criteria matrix. Projects will be assigned a priority rating against their implementation readiness, sustainability, funds available, alignment with the programme objectives and focus areas.
Project proposals must focus on good co-ordination and inter departmental liaison to ensure projects are not duplicated across other programmes of government. The programme may provide grants and professional support for project preparation, feasibility study, initialisation and establishment of a sound business case. Should project proposal establish a strong business case and obtain approval from Programme Steering Committee, the programme may provide funding for capital works and physical implementation.
Project proposals must be structured with good linkages to civil society structures; relevant technical capacity development; business and project management skills development; quality standards; and commercialisation through an SME system. This proposed project implementation approach must ensure that quality products are installed; that SME and BEE local development takes place and aims to have a sustainable and easily replicable project as an outcome.
